In a brave move to end the protracted crisis within the judiciary arm of government in Osun State and his effort in resolving the protracted strike action by the Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria(JUSUN), of Osun State Chapter, Governor Ademola Adeleke has set up a seven man committee, giving them a seven days Ultimatum to urgently resolve the industrial dispute.

The Governor at the same time is sending a briefing letter to the Attorney General of the Federation and the Chief Justice of Nigeria, calling for support to resolve the industrial dispute.

This was disclosed in a statement on Sunday by the Spokesperson to the Governor, Mallam Olawale Rasheed. He said the Governor in the brief letter communicated to both the Attorney General of the Federation (AGF) and Chief Justice of Nigeria(CJN) on his efforts so far to get the crisis resolved despite the fact that the bone of contention is pure judicial staff matters.

“ We are being careful all along not to be accused of meddling in judicial matters. But it is now almost an emergency. We must get the issues ironed out.

“ I told the national leadership of JUSUN to mediate. I am also reaching out to the Attorney General and the Chief Justice. We need to get our courts running for regular dispensation of justice”, the Governor was quoted as saying.

The seven man committee setup by the Governor is headed by the Secretary to the State Government, Hon Teslim Igbalaye with a mandate to find a lasting solution to the crisis in the judiciary arm of the state within seven days.

The new intervention by Governor Adeleke in the judiciary crisis of the state followed his previous efforts, which include payment of withheld salaries of some judicial staff, negotiation on wardrobe allowances, and recent hosting of the national leadership of the judicial staff union.

Mallam Olawale Rasheed noted in the statement that, Governor Ademola Adeleke is setting up the committee with a direct mandate to get the dispute resolved notwithstanding whatever it will take, noting that his action is to restore normalcy and not to interfere in the judicial arm of government.
