Promises Jobs creations, Jobs Opportunities in Ile-Ife

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, has generously donated ten million Naira and one thousand bags of rice to the recently disengaged staff of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital (OAUTHC), Ile-Ife.

He made this announcement while addressing the concerned youths who had gathered at his Palace on Monday.

The Ooni assured them that he is actively working with relevant stakeholders, including the Federal Ministry of Health, to resolve the crisis.

In addition to the donation, the traditional monarch of the ancient community of Yoruba race pledged to provide immediate support to the affected sons and daughters of Ife who were among the disengaged OAUTHC workers. He promised them job opportunities for survival and expressed readiness to assist through creating job opportunities for them and absorbing those affected inside the various industries he is creating.

He emphasized that the palliatives are temporary and reiterated his full commitment to supporting them.

Ooni of Ife further guaranteed employment through the array of the Ojaja conglomerate and has promised to link them with more organisations in both the public and private sector to engage them back into the system on a gradual basis.

PrimeReportersNG learnt His Imperial Majesty has supported over 40 thousand youths since his ascending the throne, both locally and internationally.

At his interaction with the disengaged workers, Ooni of Ife further assured his commitment to youth empowerment will be continuous.

Ooni urged the protesting youths to apply wisdom in their actions to achieve positive outcomes, emphasizing his dedication to resolving the situation. He commended their demonstration with the display of core Omoluabi ethos of the descendants of Oduduwa with how they allowed hospital operations to resume upon his intervention.

Furthermore, the Ooni assured the youths of continued support beyond the OAUTHC, encouraging them to leverage his assistance to pursue their dreams and aspirations in life.

Speaking on behalf of the disengaged workers, Samson Falope revealed that the hospital management issued a circular on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, terminating the employment of over 1,500 workers who had served the institution for about 15 months, with many of them not receiving any payment.

Falope explained that their efforts to engage with the management were unsuccessful, as the Chief Medical Director of OAUTHC, Professor John Okeniyi, and his team did not respond to their requests for dialogue.

Samson, an Estate Officer II of the Civil and Maintenance Department, lamented their plight, stating that they had undergone recruitment and verification processes, received required documents, and worked diligently since 2022. He expressed gratitude to the Ooni for his intervention, as the disengagement had caused significant hardship, including children being unable to attend school due to unpaid fees and elderly parents without care.
