Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Adeleke has approved with immediate effect, the appointments of both Prince Adesuyi Haastrup as the new Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesha land and Prince Johnson Adekanmi Abikoye as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina
In a statement issued by the Commissioner for Information and Public Enlightenment in the state, Oluomo Kolapo Alimi, indicates that the approval of the two monarchs was ratified and approved during the seating of the Osun State Executive Council Meeting presided over by its Chairman and Governor of Osun State, Senator Ademola Adeleke on Friday.
PRIMEREPORTERSNG gathered that the appointments of Prince Haastrup as the new Owa-elect was sequel to the demise of the immediate past Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesha land, Oba ( Dr) Gabriel Adekunle Aromolaran II on the 11th of September 2024 while that of Prince Abikoye as the new Asaoni of Ora Igbomina followed the demise of Oba Tinuoye Atolagbe on the 19th of November 2023.
According to a source who spoke to PRIMEREPORTERSNG anonymously said Prince Clement Adesuyi Haastrup of Bilaro Oluodo Ruling House was approved by the Governor as the new Owa Obokun Ajimoko III and Paramount Ruler of Ijesaland after he defeated nine other candidates in a free and fair selection process held at the Ilesa West Local Government Secretariat along the Ilesa-Oshogbo motorway.
The kingmakers that were present at the selection process included six Iwora mefa mamely Obaala, High chief Ibitoye, Ogboni Ipole, Oba Omokehinde Oyeleye, Ogboni Ijebu-jesa, Oba Olufemi Agunsoye ( Elegboro), Ogboni Ibokun, Oba Festus Awogboro, Ogboni Ilesa High Chief Saka Fapohunda, Oba Odo of Ilesa, and seven agba Ijesa, Risawe of Ilesa, High Chief Adefioye Adedeji, Lejoka of Ilesa, High Chief Omoniyi Ojo, Lejofi, High Chief Adebusoye Onigbogi, Arapate of Ilesa, High Chief Oluwagbemiga Fadunsin Igbarool, Loro of Ilesa, High Chief Lekan Folorunso, Odole of Ulesa, High Chief Bola Orolugbagbe and Mr Abimbola Aluko (warrant officer representing the Saloro of ilesa whose stool is vacant).
According to the Commissioner for Information in the state Oluomo Kolapo Alimi said, while congratulating the two newly approved monarchs whom he said their choices followed due processes in line with the Chiefs’ law of Osun State 2002( cap 25), Governor Ademola Adeleke enjoined all sons and daughters of the two towns to co-operate with their new traditional rulers, particularly in allowing peace and unity to take the centre stage.

In the meantime, the ruling Peoples Democratic Party in Osun State has congratulated the new Owa Obokun of Ijesaland as announced by the state government, Prince Clement Adesuyi Hastrup on his election and approval by the state executive council as Owa Obokun Adimula of Ijesaland.
The PDP appreciates the government of Osun State led by His Excellency, Governor Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, for taking the bold step to fill the vacant stool of the Owa Obokun of Ijesaland.
According to a statement by the party Chairman, Hon Sunday Bisi, he said, “Our great party have no doubt that the Owa Obokun elect will foster stronger unity, peace and progress among the ever industrious people of Ijesaland just as we call on the Ijesa sons and daughters to work with the new monarch towards the development of the ancient ijesa kingdom.”
“Our party repose so much confidence in the love of the Kabiyesi, Oba Clement Adesuyi for Ijesa and continue on the path of rapid development of the kingdom as exemplified by his predecessor, late Oba Adekunle Aromolaran”

“Our party also urges all princes in the royal families of Ijesa to at this time, demonstrate the Ijesa blue blood in them and work in solidarity with the new Imperial Majesty, Owa Obokun of Ijesa, Oba Clement Adesuyi Hastrup for continued progress of the Ijesa people” the PDP Chairman noted in his congratulatory message.
