OSOGBO GEARS UP FOR THE INSTALLATION OF TESLIM IGBALAYE AS THE NEW BOBAGUNWA

Today, 18th December 2024, the bright morning sun shines on the city of Osogbo, casting its warm light over the streets as excitement builds in the air. Friday, 20th December 2024, is a day that everyone in Osogbo has been eagerly waiting for—Teslim Igbalaye is about to be pronounced as the new Bobagunwa of Osogbo

As the town comes alive, Osogbo’s streets leading to the Ataoja’s palace, Teslim Igbalaye’s Oroki residence, Amugba compound, and the Igbalaye house in Oke-Fia are filled with processions of well-wishers and family members. People from all corners of the town and beyond are gathering, eager to witness the momentous occasion that will elevate Hon. Teslim Igbalaye into the royal fold. The entire town is filled with energy and excitement, as the historic day draws nearer.

Teslim Igbalaye, a man whose influence has greatly shaped Osogbo, has earned this prestigious title through years of dedication. From his days as caretaker chairman and chairman of Osogbo Local Government, to his current role as the Secretary to the Osun State Government, his tireless efforts for the growth and prosperity of Osogbo have earned him the trust and admiration of the people. The anticipation for his coronation is palpable, with the entire town buzzing in excitement.

As we reflect on this moment, it is impossible not to honor the legacy of the late Alhaji Abdulrasheed Igbalaye, Teslim’s father, who once held the title of Bobagunwa of Osogbo. His legacy, marked by patriotism and an unwavering commitment to the development of Osogbo and Osun State, is fondly remembered. The people of Osogbo owe much to his dedication and vision, which paved the way for today’s coronation.

The Ataoja of Osogbo, Oba Jimoh Oyetunji Olanipekun (Larooye II), has personally announced that he will pronounce Teslim Igbalaye on Friday, 20th December 2024. This honor speaks to the deep trust the Ataoja has in Teslim, a trust built on years of service and commitment to the town.

This title is not only a recognition of Teslim’s past achievements but also a reaffirmation of his vital connection to the culture and traditions of Osogbo. The responsibility of the Bobagunwa title will bind him to the royal lineage and influence the future of Osogbo for years to come.

Preparations at the Ataoja’s palace are well underway. The palace grounds are adorned with banners and decorations, welcoming dignitaries, chiefs, and honored guests. Elders, religious leaders, and community members are already arriving, gathering in anticipation of the coronation. The royal courtyard buzzes with the sounds of chatter, laughter, and excitement.

The rhythmic beat of the royal drums fills the air, signaling that the hour of the coronation is near. These powerful rhythms echo across the town, heightening the sense of anticipation. Soon, the Ataoja of Osogbo arrives, riding majestically in a procession with his chiefs and officials. His regal presence commands deep respect, and the crowd acknowledges the beginning of a momentous occasion.

Teslim Igbalaye, dressed in the finest traditional attire, begins his procession toward the Ataoja’s palace. Accompanied by family, friends, and well-wishers, he is celebrated with dances, songs, and chants in honor of the great responsibility he is about to assume. The crowd erupts in cheers, recognizing the significance of the day, not only for Teslim but for the entire town of Osogbo.

As Teslim reaches the gates of the palace, he is warmly greeted by the Ataoja, the chiefs, and the elders who have gathered to witness this sacred event. The atmosphere is one of deep reverence, as prayers and chants honor Teslim for his qualities and readiness to serve the people of Osogbo.

The Ataoja of Osogbo then takes the cap, bead, and other ceremonial items, a symbol of leadership and authority, and prepares to place it on Teslim’s head. The crowd holds its collective breath, waiting for this moment of official recognition. As the cap is placed upon Teslim’s head, a wave of joy and celebration ripples through the gathering. The drums beat louder, and the people of Osogbo burst into jubilant applause. Teslim Igbalaye is now the Bobagunwa of Osogbo, a position of immense prestige and responsibility.

After the coronation, Teslim swears an oath to serve the people of Osogbo with integrity, wisdom, and dedication. Teslim stands tall, ready to fulfill his new role, understanding the gravity of the title entrusted to him.

Though the coronation has yet to take place, the excitement and energy in Osogbo and Osun State are palpable. The entire town eagerly awaits the day’s unfolding events, ready to celebrate their new chief. Same day, after the procession at the palace, a grand banquet will take place at the Technical College, where the finest from Osogbo and Osun State will come together to honor the newly crowned Bobagunwa of Osogbo.

Today, as the town prepares for the coronation, the people of Osogbo are filled with pride and anticipation. They are about to witness a new chapter in the history of Osogbo, one that will be shaped by Teslim Igbalaye, the new Bobagunwa of Osogbo.
