Osun 2026: APC ‘Otoge Group’ Unfazed with Oyetola’s Denial, Set-up Structures in 30 LG of Osun

The last has not been heard from the crisis rocking the Osun APC as a group within the party named ‘Otoge’ insisted they won’t stop their advocacy against the candidature of Oyetola in the 2026 Governorship election in Osun State.

In one of the stories making the rounds in Osun political space, it was learnt a group within the factionalised APC in Osun who called themselves ‘Otoge’ had reported Oyetola to Tinubu and the first lady stating their preference for either the APC National Secretary, Ajibola Bashiru or the newly appointed Nigeria Port Authority Executive Director, Egnr Badmus.

With the controversy that the insinuations has generated, the ‘Otoge’ group in the Osun APC has now further reiterated their stand, stating they remain unfazed of the denial by the camp of Oyetola on the current reality of APC in the state.

While reacting to the current internal disagreement of the party, an APC Chieftain, who is a member of the group, said, “All what we’re doing and focused on is to salvage our party from continously nosediving. We can’t continue to watch as one man with his inordinate ambition continues to destroy our party. After we reported Oyetola to the Presidency based on what we calculated of what is best for our party in 2026, we learnt in his usual vindictive character, he has started suspecting and putting up some resistance structures against the new director of NPA and son of Chief Tunde Badmus over our projection that Egnr Badmus could be one of our very good options in 2026 gubernatorial election of our state”

“Infact, I can tell you for free that Baba Badmus has accepted the projection that his son should be the candidate of the party in 2026 if Osogbo is really serious with their agenda to have a Governor in the state. Baba see reason to the fact that, his son can achieve what he has find it difficult to achieve and as an elder statesman of Osogbo of long standing, why would he say no to such wonderful option?” The Chieftain of the group queried.

“We’ve set up structure across the state, and there’s no going back on our demand against Oyetola candidature but rather plead on Ajibola Bashiru or Egnr Badmus candidacy. We urge Barrister Ajibola Bashiru or Egnr Badmus not to bow or cave in to unnecessary pressure from known quarters because we know the antecedents of Oyetola and his team and their unchangeable vindictive character.”

Our correspondent also learnt that the National Secretary of APC and former Senator of Osun Central, Barr Ajibola Bashiru, is well desirous of the coveted governorship seat in Abeere.

This tabloid further learnt that Ajibola Bashiru was in Iwo last week for some political moves meeting some top leaders of the party among whom were Professor Ladipo.

It was equally learnt he has inaugurated his coordinators in the 30 local government and Area council of the state and already commissioned them to begin assignment on his Governorship ambition in earnest, the more reason he hasn’t denied the validity of the story making the rounds in Osun APC which projected him to be a better option than Oyetola.

In our correspondent further investigation into the current conflict within the Osun APC, it was learnt that the former deputy Governor in the state and former National secretary of the party, Otunba Iyiola Omisore may not be outrightly part of the set-up of the ‘Otoge Group’ in Osun APC, however, his demands and political plottings may not be too far-fetched from the position of the group.

It was learnt that, he’s still not happy with the way he was pushed out of office, however, he’s not in support of Bashiru, he’s not in support of Badmus and he has an axe to grind with Oyetola with the way he was treated but he’s looking for the best time to show his political capacity against all those who treated him like a leftover in the party.

How best to solve this political conundrum in Osun APC is what political watchdogs in Osun continue to look out for.
